This is a really, really good question.

And what a fabulous missing (might I add).

Maintaining my personal brand, whether it be on Twitter or my blog, and sticking to my message was very focused at the beginning. But now, as you said, I am building upon that and growing my brand.

Lovely to have met you.

Going to follow you on Twitter now.

You can find me @mssinglemama

I'm always rather perplexed (and a bit vexed) by the attention & buzz about -- and the new lingo for -- "social media". As if media was never social before, or that people never formed groups before, or that people never gathered impressions about people based on what they saw or heard, or that people didn't try to manipulate and control their image or public perception.

The technology and tools may have intensified & shortened, the time frame (somewhat forcing quick reactions -- and those pander to speak in sound bites), but nothing has really changed. We've been socializing, interacting, communicating, judging and projecting as long as we've been humans.

I'm more interested in expressing myself than anything else. As I hope to be an effective communicator, I do pay attention to feedback (so that I may clarify & correct my message -- or, in the case of idiots, not lose any sleep over what I have said). But I don't like this "web 2.0 version" of "how to make friends and influence people" conversation.

The conversation makes so many people (not directed at you, dear Anaiis!) seem disingenuous & shallow; and those who seek to control the tools & use them to fabricate the "it" factor seem even worse.

There are many wise people who are not uber social networking idols -- and while I'll concede a larger audience for these people would do us all well, this hype over new tools for standard practices is exhausting me.
