Controversial Columnist Robert Novak, Dies at 78

Novak died Tuesday morning at his home in Northwest Washington. The cause was a malignant brain tumor. He was 78. Love him or hate him, Novak changed the face of American political journalism forever.

North Korea Pardons Detained U.S. Reporters

Kim Jong-il has issued a special pardon to Laura Ling and Euna Lee, two U.S. Journalists who were detained after entering North Korea illegally in March. Many are associating the release with the visit of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, who earlier announced her was headed to Pyongyang on “a private visit.” According to the BBC, media reports in Washington suggest this was a White House-approved mission that had been in the making for weeks.

Blogger Prom 2009 In Los Angeles

Prom—that word stirs up all kinds of emotions and memories, some positive, some negative. For me, it’s a bittersweet mixture of both, courtesy of the fact that I went to four during high school. But more than focus on whether these were good or a total waste of couture, I think of them as a crowning jewel on the journey of exploration and growth. Having said that, this prom, so many years after high school, is one of my favorites.

There is also renewed pressure from the Vatican: as expressed back in 2003, Pope Benedict does not approve of the Harry Potter series. Some Christians agree that the magic in the books dangerously raises children’s interest in the occult, which is strictly forbidden in the Bible.
