Twitter Tips from Twitter Pros
October 12th, 2009, by Linda Sherman for It’s Different For Girls
@AVFlox: Ignore the question “what are you doing?” Tell us what you think is going to be valuable to us. Don’t have conversations on Twitter unless it is relevant to a topic you were discussing that you think is relevant to a majority of your audience. It’s not a chat room. Don’t tweet back and forth “LOL, hahaha, what did you do today?” There is the DM (private message) system for that, use it.

Interview about Twitter and social media at the Parnassus Group’s 140 Twitter Conference.

L.A. Twestival: Social Media Party for Charity at Hollywood & Highland
September 15, 2009, by Derek Thomas for The L.A. Weekly
AV Flox: “Twitter has completely revolutionized my life. I will never again be stranded somewhere without a date when somebody doesn’t show up. I will never again wonder where I should eat, or where I should take my cat if he should be deathly ill. It’s amazing. I have a network of only 4,000 people but the reach is incredible. I’ve met so many people through Twitter that I would have never met otherwise. It’s also amazing for dating. It’s the best way to screen that was ever invented.”

Interview With Anaiis Flox
June 10th, 2009, by Murray Newlands for murraynewlands.com
The internet has given us much to do and even more to ponder. OMG. OMG! OMFG! deals with the web—the people in it, the things we’re doing, the customs we’re adopting, and the things we’re leaving behind as we venture forth into this uncharted territory of trial-and-error, where more and more, the digital is colliding with the analog.

She’s Foxxxy
February 20, 2009, by Laurie Percival for Lalawag
Picture her writing her blog OMG. OMG! OMFG! in just a tee shirt and a pair of stiletto heels. That’s the kind of images you’ll get if you follow her Twitter stream. Anywhere you e-stalk her, and trust me you’ll want to, she is a completely open book, and that is something to admire. I finally got the chance to talk to the infamous fox who was recently called “a one woman stimulus package.”

Sniki Wiki: AV Flox
October 7, 2008, by Desarae A. Veit for Sniki Wiki
The forerunners and early adapters of the social media wave are pioneers. Reminds me of this great quote on Percival Lowell’s tomb at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona: “To see into the beyond requires purity and the securing it makes him perforce a hermit from his kind. He must abandon cities and forego plains. Only in places above and aloof from men can he profitably pursue his search. He must learn to wait upon his opportunities and no less to wait for mankind’s acceptance of his results… for in common with most explorers he will encounter on his return that final penalty of penetration—the certainty, at first, of being disbelieved.”

BlogHer of the Week: AV Flox
August 3rd, 2009, by Jory Des Jardins for BlogHer
Flox’s post doesn’t offer up advice for the newly separated, or empty words of hope. She’s only providing an account of herself, someone not defeated by a relationship and willing to be taken up like a piece of flotsom into this sea of emotion until she builds her own vessel and can navigate it with certainty. For her fearless approach, and some really amazing writing, we congratulate AV Flox for being the BlogHer of the Week.

Karl Lagerfeld Says No One Wants to See “Round” Women
October 13, 2009, by Susan Wagner for BlogHer
“Oh, but this is standard Karl, isn’t it?” asks BlogHer CE AV Flox, who has an insider’s perspective on the fashion world, and comes to a slightly different conclusion. “I always thought that the whole point was that we had a nondescript body, and thus did not detract from the clothes. We were walking clothes hangers. The fantasy and illusion is found in the genius of a collection and the portrayal of a specific lifestyle, not in the persons wearing its items. Karl should be concerned about how much emphasis is being placed on the bodies as opposed to his clothes and do something about that. After all, this is his livelihood.”

Are TMZ and Twitter Trumping the Times?
July 02, 2009, by Jory Des Jardins for MediaBizBlogger
BlogHer Contributing Editor Anaiis Flox who writes OMG. OMG. OMFG, a social-media commentary blog, wrote a fantastic piece from the blogger side. More specifically, from the bloggers who unwittingly feed scoops to unplugged journos for no credit.

The Curious Affairs of Psychotherapy
April 07, 2009, by Atherton Bartelby for Scallywag & Vagabond
“I don’t even know what Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is,” I whined to my best friend A.V. over Américanos and Marlboros. “Could he not at least be Gestalt? Whatever will he make me do? Workbook assignments? Like I am back in grammar school?” Always more willing than I to give new things a chance before immediately judging them harshly, my friend countered, “A Cognitive-Behavioral perspective following a year with a Freudian? It will be a… a psychotherapeutic smörgåsbord!”

Co-Working Bohemian Style
March 2, 2009, by Laurie Percival for Lalawag
… We wrapped up the video and a photo shoot with the unparalleled AV Flox began. There were short skirts, corsets, and garter belts with thigh-high stockings, probably a usual thing for the muse that was posing. Then the painting began… AV seized her canvas and created a stunning piece…

Digital LA Recap and Photos
January 29, 2009, by Mike Prasad for Lalawag
… The infamously controversial and disturbingly sexy blogger AV Flox described Digital LA host/creator Kevin Winston as a “A gazelle in a frat party” while trying to chase him down in her distractingly little black dress…

  • AV Flox writes about web culture; new media’s gradual overthrow of old media; trends in social media; and the complicated entanglements people get themselves into as we venture forth into this new world where, more and more, the analog is colliding with the digital.
